I am excited to announce my contribution to the recently published academic book, Unveiling Developmental Disparities in the Middle East, by IGI Global. My chapter, titled Role of Civil Society and Non-Governmental Organizations in Addressing Developmental Disparities in the Middle East: Empowering Communities for Sustainable Development, provides an in-depth exploration of the pivotal role that civil society organizations (CSOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play in addressing developmental disparities across the region.
In this chapter (DOI: 10.4018/979-8-3693-7377-4.ch004), I offer a comprehensive analysis of how CSOs and NGOs contribute to economic development, human rights, education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability throughout the Arabian Peninsula, Iran, and the Near East. The chapter also delves into the evolution of these organizations and the complex challenges they face, including political restrictions, financial dependency, and operational barriers in conflict zones. By shedding light on how these organizations navigate such complexities, I aim to provide practical insights and guidance for policymakers, development practitioners, and stakeholders who seek to harness the potential of civil society to foster sustainable and equitable growth.
